Hi there... My surgery date is May 7!! I can't believe I am going to finally end this 9 year torture. I developed severe insufferable colonic inertia when I quit smoking nine years ago. Two weeks after I quit, I became pregnant with my first child. I have now just finished my third pregnancy and have a 14 week old son. At my 7th month of pregnancy, the laxatives/fiber that had produced at least one bowel movement per day no longer worked, and have not worked since.
I honestly believed, if only I could get to the root emotional cause, find the right diet, heal my body, I would end this. And then I realized, finally, after nearly a decade, that surgery is the healing I have been looking for.
I am so ready for this surgery. I wont have a bag, small intestine will be connected to the rectum.
I am 38 years old, and have several kids. I will have family helping for the first four weeks.
Generally speaking, What is the worst of the healing process? The first two weeks? Month?
I love smoothies - veggies, fruits, and oils blended in the blendec to a fine puree. Is this a no go after surgery? Anyone eat these?
Any advice is welcome!
