Does anybody use this appliance or have experience with it?? I have been trying out the sample that was sent to me this week and I really want it to work for me. It is an adhesive based 2 piece system. Not having the plastic ring makes it lighter, flexible and a bit more comfortable. I am running into one problem though. The reason I like to wear 2 piece appliances is to be able to take the bag off and clean up the area around my stoma from time to time. I was told by the representative at Coloplast that this was more than possible with the adhesive system and that they had tested it thoroughly. So, the first time I tried to do it I was stupid and got toilet paper stuck on the adhesive part and the pouch fell off over night....OOPS! But, last night I tried it again....took of the pouch, wiped around my stoma, made sure the wafer plate was clean and dry and stuck the pouch back on. This morning I notice a small amount of liquid leaking out from between the wafer and the adhesive foam thingy on the pouch. It's not a lot, but enough to make me feel like I have to change the appliance. As you all know, having to change on a day it wasn't planned can be a real bummer....I have SO much to do before work!!

Anyway, do any of y'all use this system and have tips for taking the bag off and on? Does anyone use and adhesive based 2 piece system from one of the other companies that might be better? I just want to find something I like already and be done with all this sampling!!!

So I went ahead and changed my appliance.... Since I'm still sampling all the stuff I've been getting, I went with an opaque one piece from Colopast....WHAT was I thinking?? I thought I had gotten it centered pretty well around my stoma, but now it feels like it has pulled away in one area. And, since this stupid bag is opaque, I can't see my stoma!!! I am at work, and won't be able to change the appliance again anytime soon, if that is in fact what I need to do. I really hate to change again this soon anyway...and hope I can at least make it until tomorrow morning/early afternoon. As much as I like the low profile of a one piece, I think I need to consider that the benefits of a two piece outweigh that a good bit. Any insights into the pros and cons....whether I need to change this pouch again...or this whole decision making process would be greatly appreciated!

Hi I use the coloplast sensure flex drainable ( opaque with an opening so you can see your stoma when placing the pouch over it) pouch & I love them! Only had 3 leaks since January. personally I can't get on with two piece's I tried a few but came back to the sensure flex love how it sticks so well try having a go with these. Bev x

M again, you could try warming the adhesive part either under your arm or with the cool setting of a hairdryer just for a minute then just put your warm hand on top of pouch when you get it on and push gently this will help it to stick better . good luck let us know how it goes x

I tried that system for a while, it is billed as something great. Only advantage is a slightly lower profile. I called about reusing the bags and they said I could, but in practice they dont stick well the second time. Even as a modified one piece unit where you dont reuse the same bag but change to a new one and leave the skin barrier part in place I still had a couple of leaks related to the adhesive. My conclusion the adhesive system is junk. I went to the one piece Sensura with slight convexity, the wafer is the same and it works really well but the bag is afixed so no leaks like with the adhesive system but also no option to only change the bag. I know for many they want the two piece but for me I never really saw great advantage to it and I like the simplicity of the one piece.

Chronielass~ I ordered a sample of the coloplast sensura flex drainable opaque one piece, because I thought it did have the window to be able to see inside to the stoma. When the bag arrived I saw that it did NOT have that window opening. Maybe this is a feature that they only have in the UK? I'm not sure why that would be the case, but that is all I can think of. I am going to call the company on Monday and ask about it. Otherwise, I will find a 2 piece clickable system that I like (can't choose between Coloplast and Convatec quite yet) and also find a clear one piece that I like and make pouch covers for them. i think that should all work....

What I know you've tried everything under the sun so just curious, what don't you like about Hollister? It's the only kind I've ever used and I have no complaints, but it seems very unpopular around here

Pluot~ HAHA!!! I have tried quite a few things and am an infamously indecisive soul....so would keep trying things forever if I could! Have even considered trying stuff from the smaller companies, since so far I've only sampled stuff from the big 3. My hang up right now is, there are features I like from all 3 companies, but no 1 system that I like everything about. As for Hollister, that is the only one that leaked for me, while I was sleeping none the less, so that makes me a bit hesitant...though, I have tried another since the leak, and did not have any trouble with it. I quite like their design in general, but the one thing I don't like is the material that the opaque pouch is made out of....it seems to pill up, like an old sweater, after a day or two. All these little fuzzy strands start hanging off of it and sticking to everything, if that makes sense. This also happens a bit with the Convatec pouches, but not at all with Coloplast.

I'm using a Coloplast one-piece right now, but have absolutely no idea if it's the 'sensure flex' or not. Since you're from the UK, have you heard of, or tried, Dansac? Their one-piece bags stick very well in my opinion.

I'm a teensy bit annoyed with Coloplast, as I requested a sample 2-piece sample from them weeks ago and never received a thing. Bad form offering free samples and not actually sending them. Gonna have to chase that one up, as I still want to try it.

@UCwhat? - My coloplast bag has a window through which you can see the stoma. Just sayin' <_<. The Dansac ones, however, don't.

NCOT~ I am definitely going to call Coloplast tomorrow to check on the whole window thing. None of the one piece opaque bags I've gotten from ANY company here in the states has that feature, and I think it is a great idea! I saw it on Coloplast's website, but the pouch they sent me is windowless, and not being able to see my stoma makes me fret! I just can't decide which system to go with for good...ARGH!!!

UCwhat? - It's a pity I can't send you a regular supply of Coloplast bags <_<. I must admit, for me, the less I see my stoma, the better... :-/ But it does seem to be a country thing, because when I was in A&E a couple of months ago, the doctor on duty tried to see inside my bag and couldn't (was wearing a Dansac bag at the time). More to the point, she sounded slightly surprised she couldn't, saying there was usually a window or something she could see the stoma through.

From that I can only surmise that windows on bags are more common than not in the UK.
