Nerves on Stoma...

It kind of feels like I have nerve endings on my Stoma, not too much, just enough for slight irritation. I've heard this is not possible, but it's really bothering me. Anyone have any explanations?

reading your signature i see you've been thru alot and im sorry for that. i would say its more likely that what you're feeling is related to the tissue arround the stoma snd not the stoma itself, esp since your sugery is very recent. i know it can really feel like its the stoma, but its not. i just had surgery too (2.5 weeks ago) and am having pain and also all kind of weird sensetions at the stoma area. it feels like its the stoma itself, but it is actually the tissue aroubd the stoma. it can continue awhile post op, but its notmal. wishing you best of health and for everything to work out for you soon!

When I had my stoma, I had a lot of irritation on the stoma itself, causing it to hurt and bleed. It's usually a result of your care routine. What are you using for cleaning? I found that when I switched from paper towels to toilet paper, I got a lot less irritation because it was so much softer. The paper towels felt like sandpaper when the irritation got really bad.
