I have been wearing my hernia support belt now for a while. It's just a smidge too big around my flange
opening so it causes my flange (coloplast sensura) to push into my stoma. I noticed this morning that it appears now that the flange has "cut" into the stoma. It's sore and looks a little red, like a cut would. I am no longer wearing my support belt but wondered how long this is going to take to heal.
I left a bigger
opening so my flange isn't rubbing up on it but it's very tender.
Any suggestions?

Your email address is hidden Kelly and as I said, my old phone went for a swim so I don't have your contact info...

A couple of things:
I have found the stoma heals pretty fast. I've had a couple bleeds and the quit pretty quick.
I worry about
you cuttin the flange to big. The waste might get to your skin and irritate it.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, it is healing but it's a little slow. Skin around the stoma is awesome as I use Friars so no irritation at all.
NCOT, your funny! Bruce and I have the same surgeon! Have been trying to meet up for coffee for a while now. But since enquiring minds want to know, I will email you! Bruce, we better bring our significant others to avoid rumours on Healing Well!!!

Larasmom,
I'm glad you addressed the bleeding on here. Because today trying to get my Bach on it slipped and cut into my stoma. Omg I have never seen something bleed so much. I thought of you which helped calm me down. Got it stopped with a cold washcloth. So far no more blood. I also used my second skin spray on it, which I think helped also.

Halo, the stoma does tend to bleed when touched or scraped accidently....sometimes I think it looks worse than it really is.
My stoma seems to have healed but I haven't been wearing my hernia belt at all. There is a sort of line of scar tissue looking stuff where I had cut it but no blood, no infection and no pain at all now.
I don't think I will chance my belt for a bit yet just to let it heal properly.
