1 piece vs 2 piece

Hi everybody has their own preference really. I tried numerous bags both 1 piece & 2 piece when I first had my Ileo and I preferred the one piece drainable bags personally x

I prefer two piece so I can check on the stoma. Plus it's easier to put the wafer on since you can see precisely where you are putting it around the stoma. You can also change out a wet bag from a shower or swimming as opposed to drying it.

But alas I use a one-piece because it's best for my skin situation. The disadvantages are having to replace the entire bag, large boxes of supplies if you use any convexity, and it's slightly harder to line up the stoma hole with the stoma. The advantages are fewer supplies to keep track of and you won't develop a leak between the wafer and the bag because there is no join.

I used a two piece, that was what I left the hospital with, a drain able pouch. Then a friend told me about the closed pouch that she used...Tried it, .. like someone above said, it's nice to be able to put on a different one instead of drying a one piece, plus I felt it was cleaner, but boy, ..sure couldn't get it to work for me. Had to go back to the drainable type. Afterwards, when talking to my Ostomy nurse about something else, she told me they don't really recommend that type for my kind of stoma.. So before you spend any money, get a professionals suggestion..
