Hello all, after a hellish 5 months, my take down is in 45 days! What can I expect from the surgery, recovery, and life after? Thanks!

I'd just start surfing the forums..lots of threads on this. I'm still awaiting my surgery date, so can't comment much else. Good luck!

Did you have the j pouch procedure? If so the takedown procedure itself is simple and should be quick. I was in and out of the OR in 40 minutes.
Recovery varies from person to person. For me takedown was a breeze compared to the first step of surgery. I recovered very quickly. Two weeks after I felt great and three weeks after I was back to life as usual. I took my kids out trick or treating! I always tell people to expect the best (because that's usually how it goes) but plan for the worst. You never know what complications can pop up. I had my fair share of those with the first surgery.
You will want to go slow with food at first for a little while. Soon you will be able to judge how adventurous you want to get with food. Just remember to be patient with your new plumbing. Your body will adjust and figure it out. Some people it takes longer than others.
Good luck!

Thank you. I've definitely had my share of setbacks from the first two and just can't wait to be put back together!
