4 days post takedown

I had my takedown on Weds afternoon. The surgeon said she saw a few areas that need watching for stricture, but at this point, no active crohns was found.

I have an NG tube that is a huge bother. very irritating. This is truly the most annoying aspect of it all.

I was allowed to try some broth and gatorade with the tube last night and did well and had a small bm so that was exciting. Probably the tube will come out today. Breakfast was presented and included popsicles, juice, broth, coffee and juice. since my last meal was Tues night, I haven't eaten much of it. If the tube does get removed today, then I guess they'll step it up pretty quick.

I had several bm's last night, and have asked for the bedside commode which is helpful. I have had more pain since having to get up so much. I went from barely using my pain pump to using it almost as much as I am allowed to.

i'm kind of scared to get the tube out. I bet it's going to hurt...

I remember the nurse telling me to push my pain pump thing and 10 mins later she came and took it out. I just remember a sort of gag feeling, no pain......but I was pretty stoned on morphine!!!

I am home! Day 6 post takedown and my little hovel never looked so good! I woke up this morning crying over everything, and my surgeon, who had planned to send me home later this evening said, "I can see that you're over it. let's just send you home to step things up there". I continued to cry over everything until about an hour ago when I woke up from the best nap of my life.

I'm one of those people who are great in a crisis, and then fall apart when it's all done. I figure I'm "all done" and out of the woods since I fell apart.

The NG tube coming out was not bad, you were right. I just was nervous after the trauma that was the j-drain coming out the last time. I was told that was "not bad" as well and it was horribly painful.

The mashed potatoes and white bread with butter that I had for lunch was simply amazing! LOL The food at the hospital was totally inedible--and not just because I was on liquid. I was on liquid/full liquid at another hospital and there was a huge difference.

I am notorious for crying episodes. I, too, am great in a crisis, but when I have a moment afterwards to reflect, I get emotional. It's my way for accepting things I've been through and accepting things that I can not change. I consider surgeries like a morning process, grief hits people at spontaneous times.
