Hi Ticki4,
I know your concerns, I too had diverticulosis. I had 7 infections, 6 in my ascending colon, and 1 in my descending. Those infections were just torture, worse than childbirth and surgery combined. Oh wait....I did have a kid and a week later an appendectomy! So, I had my entire colon removed. Connected my small to my rectum. The reason I had my ostomy is I developed sepsis from a leakage.
You will feel better. It does take time, and sure, when your in the moment, your consumed with the pain and wondering about getting better or possibly getting worse. The reflux is normal too, your body hasn't adjusted yet, so gas is your enemy. In my opinion, for you to be pain med free during the day, it's in the right direction. The rectal pain is also normal, it takes time to heal.
If you develop increased pain/bleeding/something's not right, drastic changes in bm's, contact your surgeon. I know it's hard to swallow, you've been through so much, but hang in there!!!!!! Let me know if you have any further questions.
