crusting isn't working

Peace - there is a statement that is a little annoying, but "less is more" when it comes to ostomy appliances.

Maybe you need to try a different skin barrier? Cavalon? Smith and Nephew? Or, Polish Dan's fav - friars balsam???

I use the Sensura as well. I used Convatec for a while because the coloplast stuff didn't stick but I liked them better. I actually use adhesive spray by Hollister on the wafer as I'm cleaning the skin. I haven't had any issues and it stays on nicely.

I don't think it's specifically designed for wafers but it is made by Holister. It peels off easy and leaves no residue and doesn't irritated my skin at all. I live by the stuff.

I just apply it to the wafer then go about removing the old one and cleaning/prepping the skin and by then it has settled and I just put my wafer on and I'm good to go. It usually lasts me 3-5 days, even then I change it out for one of three reasons; first, either the area of my belly button has pulled up, second if my eakin has worn or or lastly because the bottom of the wafer gets chewed up from my pants.

I use holister bag/wafer but with sensi-care adhesive remover and sensi-care skin barrier sting free. My ostomy nurse said these two products won't work together. Well they are the only thing that worked for me. It's genius. My skin is finally healthy. I got mine from ostomysecrets.com. I called them crying in pain with huge ulcers. Everyone in their customer service has ostomies and they are a great resource. I hope this helps. I have found it fine to mix brands.

Thanks for all the suggestions! It looks like the SecuPlast hydro aloe is only available outside the USA. I'm not sure how customs would handle imports like this. I know they are particular regarding medications purchased outside the US...but who knows!

I'm currently using PDI Compound Tincture of Benzoin swabsticks. It feels more comfortable today. I think part of my issue is the way I am apply my wafer as I still have a rather thick/moist incision from my belly button down from Surgery in Dec 2013. I need to keep the incision uncovered. I'm hoping it will get flat like my first incision did but it took a year for that to happen. So I'm cutting away part of the wafer and rotating it 90 degrees. So a good portion of the wafer get caught in the skin folds directly under my stoma from exercising.

I'm always interesting in hearing about different techniques. Plz tell me more JenniferRD!

I also heard back from Coloplast? They have a film to put over the skin after applying the powder? They are sending me a sample. They said the film will protect the skin as well as allow for the wafer to stick better.

Never heard anyone using a film before. Will let you know how it works out.
