Soreness Around Stoma

Why do I feel sore around the stoma and the need to change the wafer and bag every 4 days or so? I am having an Ileostomy from January 2014. Today the Medical Team inspected it and said there is no injury to the stoma but the skin is damaged and put me on antibiotics. But this has been happening from the time I had the surgery. The most I can stand through the wafer is 5 to 6 days.

I have had some small irritations around my stoma. It didn't start until about 3 weeks after surgery. I still have some today. (End ileo July 7th, 2014)

I change my bag about every 3 days. When it was really agitated I changed it every 2-3 days.

Are you using barrier wipes/spray? Are you using stoma powder? Doing the Crusting Technique to protect the raw skin?

Hi". Embers glow (and anyone else!), can I ask you to give more information? I too started having a super tender spot around my stoma. At first it looked like a small raw spot... Last change it looked more like a small blister? I tried crusting it yesterday, so hopefully that will help. And I ordered benzoin compound as I saw folks recommend that for wound healing.
But what is this sore? Is it the original incision? Caused by skin irritation? Is this common? Any input appreciated. If it weren't for this, I would feel great, but as it is, it is quite tender. :-/
