Heading for surgery tomorrow

Well, tomorrow is the day. Goodbye to my loop ileo, hello end ileo. Goodbye colon, goodbye hernia.

Fingers crossed all goes well. Goodness knows what they are going to find for scar tissue and adhesions from my emergency surgery two years ago.

Surgeon says two weeks in hospital but I am hoping it's shorter than that. 6am arrival time for an 8am start. They say 6.5 hours for the surgery.

The other odd thing they have me doing is drinking high carb drinks through the night until two hours before my surgery. Then after surgery, chewing gum non stop to get things going. Maybe that's common, I don't know but since I was in the ICU last time, I didn't have that.

Will post when I am feeling better. Prayers, energy and positive vibes are welcomed!!!

Best of luck with the surgery, Larasmom. Hope all goes well. Chewing gum afterwards was never suggested to me, but I was given a couple of high-carb drinks to drink a few hours before surgery.

One thing I can't get over is the 2-week stay in hospital. Absolutely no way I'd stay 2 weeks in my hospital's grim surgery ward: would probably end up needing emergency surgery! (If ever I have to have surgery again, think I might even ask to be transferrred to another ward: I really, really hated that surgery ward.)

     Your surgery is most likely over by now, but, I am saying some prayers for your complete recovery.  Keep us posted when you are able.

Surgery went well. I am sore but otherwise ok. Puked last night but no NG tube thank god.

Ileo is perfect! Working like a trooper. Butt wound is tender.

May be heading home tomorrow.

No guarantees tho!

Home now, all is well. Glad to have that darn diseased colon gone. No more aching. It's amazing.

No signs of Caron's on the small bowel so fingers crossed I can hold off the disease for another 40 years or so!!!! :o)

Will update after my nap!

PS....what is with the cravings for tomatoe juice after surgery......I can't get enough. Toast dipped in the juice, best thing ever!!!!!
