I’m a 23 year old male and I had a rectal surgery, Perianal Delormes procedure (from the anus), not the keyhole (through the abdomen) since there's a risk of impotence for my rectal prolapse on 14th of May last year. Whenever I'm under sudden high stress or anxiety, I start feeling tension in my rectum which feels uncomfortable. And if I continue to let myself feel anxious or stressed, the tension in my rectum turns into a sharp rectal pain.
So I always have to mentally shut down and not stay anxious or stressed to stop the tension from forming. It's hard to explain, I can still feel stress and anxiety but not the kind of ones when you're suddenly under pressure and you feel a butterflies in the stomach e.g. cramming for tests after procrastinating, doing tasks within a time limit.
I did suffer from very debilitating tenesmus(constant urgency to go to the toilet without any bowel movement) when I had a full-thickness rectal prolapse which was gone after the surgery, so I thought it had been cured. But perhaps it’s not gone entirely since I’m getting uncomfortable tensions in my rectum followed by a sharp rectal pain after feeling stressed or anxious.
So that means I can no longer function under short burst of high anxiety or stress anymore which is essential as an adult especially at work and school. I’m thinking about
going to my surgeon but will he be able to do anything about
it?
