Surgery consult, what q's?

Is the next surgery the j-pouch construction or the ostomy reversal?

I would ask lots of questions about possible complications of this next step. I had an abscess develop in my plevic area that had to have a trans gluteal drain placed (thru my upper left butt cheek) to drain for six weeks. (I wasn't in the hospital for 6 weeks I went home with the drain) Needless to say I was totally unprepared for this and I actually freaked out my surgeon....poor guy. It's just nice to know these things can happen before hand and for someone to explain why they happen. I didn't ask enough questions at my consult and I didn't know about these wonderful support sites at that time. Not saying she will have any complications but arm yourselves with knowledge.

Consult all good. We feel like we are in good hands. It is hard for them to describe every negative, though I know of a few too many. They try to give good stats to inspire confidence. My d is entering it with a good mind and spirit. I would probably have stopped at the last surgery, but she is inspired to continue, We talked about fertility,
cuffitis, hospital time and stoma changes. Stoma nurse came in too-the end illestomy she has now is so darn good, I fear the next one- a bit. The loop seems harder to manage, but with appliance changes, ok.
Anyway, guess we just have to press on, and fear of pain or complications can't stop us now. Best to all. Will check in again soon. Spinkter(sp) is strong. We even scheduled the take-down in March and had blood work. Productive. Hopeful. Fearful. The pot is right.

So much to say...so hard to describe. We are in an early stage, and every week is different. This is a marathon, and at the end, we are hopeful that we have put the daily pain if UC behind.
No more 20+ trips, pretty good acceptance of the bag(after the few pass outs when changing it), gained weight( which for most is great, but not for my gal). No meds, not sick, but not too easy yet. Funny how one issue replaces another, food became an issue. What to eat, how many calories, what won't get stuck...perhaps just her. She met all standards for normal. Next surgery is Dec 5th, 3rd one is March 22, so we are working the original plan. She is fixed on going back to school in Aug. says this year is all that she will give this disease, as it has sucked up too much life.
