Travel Insurance abroad for newby loop illiostomy

Hello All. I'm brand new to the forum with a delema. My surgery was a loop illiostomy in June of this year. I have a holiday booked in Feb2015 long haul. Holiday all paid for and basic travel insurance. I'm really concerned on several levels but mainly on what cover do I require extra as I also live with Fybromyalgia too. I have a pre op Dec for a reversal in March 2015 can you advise my best options for travel insurance cover. I am away for 2weeks and this is our first holiday in over 10years. Pre all illnesses. I would value any advise given. Thanks.

There are cancellation rules with each of your carriers that you are stuck with, unless you have a trip booked by an agent that offers some kind of package deal. In that case they may offer cancellation insurance...is this what you mean?
In general, traveling should be fine. Empty your bag before standing in security lines. Security asked my daughter to touch her pouch, then tested her hand for explosive residue. You have the right( USA) to privacy and a same gender agent at TSA.
Travel with your supplies, have an emergency kit -also have an ID identifying you as an Ostomy patient. We got one from our nursing staff at the hospital, but I'd bet you can find one online.

Thank you so much Katmom, that was helpful. But I'm concerned that if anything goes wrong whilst in Dominican Republic will I need extra cover to get me back home or overhead for a hospital stay or surgery there. I've already needed to go back into hospital last month due to a blockage. I now also have a large hernia that's quite troublesome. To be honest I'm quite stressed too. Regards Storms.
