Maybe blueheron will chime in- she uses two piece but I recall from her blog that she adds tape around the outer adhesive. Another thing you can look into are "sure seal" outer seals that seem to be popular especially with people who swim alot with their ostomies... Seals the whole outer adhesive with a waterproof layer. Have never needed or used them but I am not big into watersports, but I gather some ostomates like them even for regular use for extra security in case of a leak starting to creep through into the adhesive.

I add tape on my wafer but all the time-- not only for swimming. The tape around Convatec wafers irritates my skin so I cut it off and replace it with strips of 3M Medipore tape. This tape is breathable, stretchy and great for sensitive skin. (I have tried the tape-less wafers that UCwhat?mentioned and their larger footprint doesn't work for me... they end up popping up off my abdomen on the side towards my belly button and mid-line incision scar.) The strips of 3M Medipore tape are waterproof enough for showering everyday, as well as some weekly swims and hot tub soaks. However, I never keep my wafers on longer than 4 days so I am not sure how the 3M tape would work for longer wear times.

Another great option are the Coloplast Elastic Barrier Strips. They are wonderful for picture-framing the wafer edge and preventing it from peeling up. I would use them (or the Sure Seals that UCwhat? mentioned) if I was ever going to go on a vacation where I was swimming a lot.
