Ileostomy and mucus

M my daughter had a second ileostomy four weeks ago after complications with the first one after four months. The first time was a loop stoma which meant mucus came out of one of the holes. This time she has an end stoma and is suffering cramping pain about two hours after eating . This appears to ease when she passes mucus . Any advice on what can be done to help this? Or has anyone else had a similar problem? The stoma appears to be working fine with normal output, so does not appear to be a blockage that side of things....could there be a blockage or build up of mucus in the intestines/bowels needing to come out?

Sounds like she just has more healing to do. It is not unusual to pass some mucus, with either a loop or and end illeo. Doesn't sound like a blockage. The intestines produce the mucus- when my daughter had just her disconnected rectum, the lil troublemaker produced some blood and mucus. Give it a little time. The pain is prob gas that needs to be expelled, and it comes out with the mucus.
