Hi. I'm wondering if UC or having the j-pouch has any relation to nerve damage...? In particular with the arms and legs (mainly feet).
I had suffered UC for about 6 years before getting surgery due to rectal cancer. Probably, and I can't remember, about a month prior to surgery, I started experiencing uncomfortability from my left elbow all the way up to my fourth and pinky fingers. It would happen when I'm in bed reading a book. I can't remember if this started happening a bit prior to surgery or not long after surgery.
Anyhow, I sort of left it thinking it wasn't anything to worry about. It's been 2 years since takedown but now I'm starting to experience some pain (it's not that bad) in my left elbow and sometimes my right elbow as well. Sometimes it's numbness and sometimes it's a bit of tingling. Not only that, I recently started to experience some knee pain on my left side. Not always but it comes and goes and now my right knee as well?? I'm in my 30's.
In the past when I still had UC, I was only on mesalmine (asacol and pentasa) meds and never on remicade or any other IV meds. I had been on steroids prednisolone for about a month and a half but that's it.
I've been doing pretty well since my surgery and have never really experienced anything bad, except for pouchitis last summer but cipro cleared it up.
Is there anyone who's experienced something similar?
