I had my surgery on April 27, 2015. Diagnosis was diverticulitis, recto-vaginal fistula, and gallstones (large). Had my sigmoid removed as well as my gallbladder. It is now 10 weeks out. Approximately 2 1/2 to 3 weeks ago I was extremely constipated. I was constantly feeling as if I had to go, but could not. Finally after several hours of this I strained very hard, and finally was able to have a BM.
Now is when my problem starts. I have had a burning sensation slightly to the right above the abdominal incision that goes through my navel. I also have a jabbing pain periodically. On a constant is a fullness feeling as if I have over eaten right below my rib cage directly in line with my navel. If I sit for any amount of time after getting up my stomach is in discomfort.
I had been feeling fine until this constipation episode. I contacted my surgeon and since I have moved to a different location he has suggested that I locate a general surgeon to evaluate me. This really upset me since he is the one who preformed the surgery on me. His associate told me that it could be a hernia, torn muscle, or a blood clot that my body has not absorbed.
The hernia comment made me think of when I was in the hospital. A nurse had come in to check on my incision and commented on the obvious swelling (pouch like) above the incision area, referring to it as a hernia.
Has anyone had any complications after gallbladder surgery, or sigmoid removal?
There are days I can only lay around because of my stomach be so sore. It even feels at times sensitive to clothing touching it.
Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
