total proctocolectomy with ileostomy accidental damage rectum

2 years ago I had surgery total proctocolectomy with ileostomy. I often have great secretion of mucus. I was cleaning the rectum with a tube and stirred gently injected water with baking soda. I think I accidentally hurt the rectum and now I bleed. The question is can be this seriously?

I would imagine it would heal, but like sue said, if it persists, I would definitely get it checked out. On the other hand, I've never heard of putting a tube in the behind to clean the rectum. I am not sure if this is a normal procedure, it sounds like it's asking for trouble. Did your doctor give you the okay to do this?
