First Nighttime Blowout

So I woke up at 5:00 this morning, lying on my back and feeling wet. It was EVERYWHERE - my clothes, me, the sheets, the comforter. I suppose I should consider myself lucky since this is the first time this has happened in the year and a half that I've had my ileostomy. However, this wasn't fun. I'm not entirely sure what happened. I was wearing a Coloplast Mio 2-piece and the wafer came off on the left side. It was my third night wearing it but I checked it after my shower last night and it looked very good, not even peeling at any of the edges. I've been very uncomfortable and gassy today, like I ate something bad or have a stomach bug. So my guess is the thing blew up with a lot of gas and forced its way off. Why don't those darn filters work? I'll probably be up every hour tonight terrified it's going to happen again. Anyway, just wanted to vent to some people who would understand. And maybe some of you might have an idea what happened?

Thanks. I have such a love/hate relationship with the Mio. When I first had my surgery that's what I started with and kept getting leaks around the stoma, but that was before I used the Hollister Adapt Ring. Then I started occasionally using the Mio 2-piece with the Adapt Ring a few months ago and had no problems around the stoma, but it would dry out my skin. Now that stopped and I had a blowout. I love the small size of the Mio wafer and the color/feel of the pouch and how it dries so quickly after a shower. But there always seems to be some problem with it...

That is upsetting. I've never had a full-on blow-out while in bed but I have had some pretty strange leaks. I just had one where I couldn't tell where the leak was coming from. The wafer slowly got dirty and when I changed, I couldn't find the source of the leak. I guess I didn't snap the bag to the ring properly. It happened to me another time in the middle of night - it wasn't snapped but it was a slow leak. The slow leaks aren't fun but what happened to you is a nightmare. I am sorry. Sounds like gas. I have anxiety about that happening because i have a lot of gas. Sometimes I wake up and feel the pouch and it feels like it could explode if one more tiny fart went in there.
