Stronger_each_day, you had a couple questions for me regarding me changing my loop to permanent.
I had my loop in 2011 temporary. The Dr didn't do permanent in case I wanted it reversed. 4 days after loop I felt like a new person. I was no longer after 45+ years living in a bathroom, missing important things like graduations. The only problem was some stool was still bypassing the loop. But once to rectum I was stuck in pain. My large intestine down to rectum and anus it did not move at all. So the stool would turn to cement and couldn't be removed from rectum.
So I asked my surgeon if we could change it to permanent? He said no problem, so surgery was set within 2 weeks. I had it may 10th. I'M SO HAPPY, it was the best thing I ever did. A little more uncomfortable healing, not much, but I'm so happy that my stoma has stayed the same size and it turned out the way I was hoping.
