Urgencies after the takes down surgery

I have read of others have that issue immediately post op so yes, normal right now. Did you tell your surgeon? The good news is your bowels are awake and working. I'm not positive but they may want to hold off for a little bit before introducing a stool thickener. It may be too soon after surgery for that. Once you start eating real food your stool will start to thicken up.

Things are a little nutty post op. It shouldn't last too long. I know it's hard but patience is key. Keep us posted.

my bowel movements are all over the place. Some days I'm pure liquid others my output is thicker. you should see some thickening with the soft foods. i'm guessing they have you on a bland diet?

Things got much better for me over the first few weeks. I was never on a liquid diet, but there was a time when I had very low capacity, so i would have to rush to the toilet often. I never had an accident or felt like I couldn't hold it, but it felt like I needed to go, so I went to the toilet at my leisure. I really went very often immediately after surgery. It gets easier. Try to be patient.
