I had a parastoma hernia, my surgeon went through my ostomy site to put mesh around the hernia. Now my stoma is skin level. They called it an Innie.....Hate it. Im having a horrible time finding the match for it to quit leaking. Anyways, I use coloplast convex and I use a moldable barrier. I have this really sharp knife stabbing pain. Feels like my skin is being ripped away. If I hold my pouch it stops but I cant go through holding my pouch all day. I know the stoma itself does not have nerve endings but the skin around it does. Im 2 1/2 weeks out from surgery so both sides of the stoma was cut. I am using stoma powder to help heal. This sharp pain which feels as though Im ripping my skin off has brought me to tears on several occasions. Does anyone know what I can do to help with this.
