i am new here. i had a total colectomy in March 2012. I did well for the first couple of years, but started to notice it was harder to evacuate my bowels. after a few weeks i decided to look down there (sorry tmi) and it looked like ilium was coming out of my rectum. (i knew what it looked like because i've had an ileostomy in the past). i went back to my surgeon. he did exams, had me do a defecogram, and some other humiliating test that i've had to do so many times in my life. he said i did not have a rectal prolapse, but had pelvic floor prolapse and nothign can be done about that. It causes much pain to not be able to pass stool. today, 3 years later after him telling me nothign can be done, the prolapse is MUCH WORSE and literally hangs out of my rectum. the worst part is, it blocks the stool. so i am unable to pass any stool. as time goes on, so much stool piles up in there that it is pressing down on my vagina, urethra, etc. at its worst, you cannot even tell i have an opening to the vagina. it is just bulging (i am sure with what is stool behind it) and it stays that way for days, stretching and burning and causing it to even bleed because it is stretched so much. you also cannot even tell where my urethra is it is so swollen. after a month or so, or by some act of some higher power, the prolapse will reposition itself and all of that stool passes. then the cycle starts all over again. i want to call my surgeon back and try this again...but has anyone else had this problem? and if so, could they fix it? my whole quality of life is completley altered. i would appreciate input so much.
