Anyone with permanent ostomy have c diff? When will the loose stools go away. I stopped vancomycin two days ago. I guess I will be subjected to this always. First time from hospital stay with many antibiotics. This time took keflex for two days.

I Only had a temp ileostomy but I wanted to respond...thought it was difficult to get c diff without a colon. Not completely unheard of. But hey, I’m def nonexpert.

What were you on Vanco for? Did u have c diff and that was why you were in the hospital? Are u taking any probiotics? I’ve heard (on this forum) it’s still got a lot of benefits.

You can still get c.diff but it is just less likely than someone with a colon.

There is a more effective med than Vanco but you usually have to fail vanco first before they will prescribe Dificid. Sometimes you have to stay on Vanco for a few weeks for it to be effective.

I'm guessing that since you have an Ostomy that FMT is out of the question.

I have had c Diff twice. TOOK vancomycin. I still on occasion have choppy loose stools. After medis are done, one can still have loose mushy stools for weeks.

Maybe get checked for the c diff. Sky our game gastro Doctor

I still get occasionally loose choppy stools every so often. Could be cookies or some curry I will not know why. I will see if I get a straight explanation from my dr tomorrow. They know less than us I think.

Before colostomy which is permanent I had tendency to have those stools for a day or two.
