am still new to this ostomie thing and i just have some questions...

1) how long do you use your pouches for ( am using the hollister new image 2 piece system )

2) am going to be starting work again in about a week and just would like to know how you handled telling/not telling people just because i really dont want to say "yea i poo in a bag now"

3) where do you buy your ostomie supplies at drug store or online and if you do it online where

well i had some more but i cant think of them now that am posting this so if you could anwers any of my questions that would be great.

1) You use your pouch for as long as you're comfortable doing so, ie as long as you can without getting skin irritation or leaks. Everyone is different in that some get longer wear times and some get shorter wear times.

2) If you're not comfortable telling people you've had ostomy surgery, just tell them you've had tummy problems and had surgery to correct it. Most people are happy to leave it at that. I usually give them all the details though and have never had a negative reaction to it. The bottom line (pardon the pun) is just tell them what you are comfortable with telling them.

3) I can't help you with this one since I'm an Aussie but I know others will be along soon and will be able to help you out with this one.

Just so you know I've had illostomy since July due to colon cancer and pouch and wafer can stay on anywhere from 3 to 7 days

thanks for the site CornHusker i just called them today and they are great with working with my insurance. before i had to pay full price then send the stuff to my insurance and man thats a pain and it cost alot.

Just as a side note i have to say getting this done has to be the best decision i have ever made even though i really didnt have much of an option because i had tryed so many drugs and none of them really worked and the surgery happend 4 days before school started but other then that i have not felt this good in 2 years when i was first diagnosed with Crohn's, i dont even care that i poo in a bag any more tongue

Hey no problem glad that I can help someone after all the help I got from here. Yea I agree don't care that I poo in a bag any more because I don't hurt and feel alittle better will feel lots better once I'm done with the CHEMO. Take care and talk at ya later.
