Good Morning! Soggy Wales
I am sorry to hear that you do not have such a great appetite right now, but it will subside in a few weeks. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, Boost Tropical Drink, Ensure, etc. (fluids) to keep you hydrated. In the beginning of my subtotal colectomy, I was very careful about what I ate because it would run right out of the ileostomy bag sometimes it would burn or times, it would leak and irritate my stomach skin. My surgeon told me to try and eat six small meals a day because he did not want me to lose too much weight before the reversal ileostomy in three months. All of a sudden, everything I had eaten and drank came right out and I started losing lots of weight which meant no eatsy or drinksy no reveresal surgery. So the Chief Radiologist inserted a TPN System into my right shoulder in which they could force feed fat drinks into my body in which my body would retain and not lose so fast. I had to hook up once a day for 10 hours for three months and boy did I gain the weight. A few weeks after my reversal ileostomy surgery, I lost all the weight I gained and started to eat regularly, drank normal liquids, and have numerous BMs which after a year, started to slow down. TO this day, whatever I eat, I will end up in the bathroom within the hour. It is a game like process of elimination!
Good Luck and Keep Smiling!
