My surgery was May 16th, had some complications but have been home for a week without problems. This morning I blacked out and rammed my head into the door, thus slamming it and continued to fall on my right side to the floor. My family found me due to the door slam and discovered an impressive scalp laceration and a bruised shoulder/hip. Back to the ER I go. Labs, head CT (because of blood thinners), xray shoulder, orthostatic blood pressures to discover I have significant dehydration. Three liters of saline and 2 staples to my head later, I'm discharged to home.
My question is, how do I keep up with this fluid intake? I know that protein, electrolytes are all important during this major healing time. What about protein shakes, supplements, something more to give me that extra I need? It's the weekend, so I won't be talking to my GI until Monday....thought you guys would have some input. What a day it has been.
