seal not sticking

I am regularily having problem with the seal,numerous times it comes unstuck and i find that the seal has sort of worn away..I do change it regularily and i was wondering if it's due to the fact i have been adviced to use stomahesive paste to fill in some skin dips..

can this wear away the seal or do i happen to haave faulty bags?

although i don't feel this is likely...

It could be for a number of reasons. I clean my skin with a deoderant soap when I shower to help dry the skin out and reduce oils. I also use a barrier wipe that helps, I prefer the no-sting.

It could be that your stool is degrading the seal. If it is loose, and acidic it can do that. I use the Eakin seals instead of the paste because they hold up much better, don't get degraded as easily.

And it could be that your appliance is not the right one for you. You may need a durahesive or a convex?

And last but not least, everyone's schedule for changing the appliance and/or flange is different. It will depend on your stoma, your skin, your stool consistancy and the appliance you use. So if when you change the appliance and you see the seal has degraded, you may want to change a day or two earlier next time. You don't want to wear a degraded appliance as the stool can really do a number on your skin (that's why I like the no-sting wipes).

At the moment, I need to change my flange daily, but that's because my stoma has become convex (because of ongoing disease) and even with a convex flange it will start to leak. Am having surgery next week, they'll also redo my stoma so I'm hoping to get back to being able to change my flange once or twice a week.
