Does anyone celebrate??

So it's coming up on my one year since my surgery. Lost the colon, got the bag. Told it might be temp at first, but looks like the bag and i could be hanging around for a while.

Just curious if anyone actually does special on the day they received their " gift".  (sigh)

I know my colon must be somewhere. I'd like to send it a card......." thanks for nothing".

been 7 months here.  on the 1 yr date i plan on being very intoxicated.  also happens to be newyears eve.  so, perfect timing!!  the whole world is celebrating with meeee

I got my stoma on my surgeon's birthday, so I gave her a card a year later thanking her! She still talks about how impressed she is that I remembered her birthday! How could I forget?!?

On my 1st year anniversary in March this year I was expecting to be totally depressed and was dredding it. Instead I got completely bladdered and had the neighbours knocking on our door at 1am telling us to turn the music down! It was the best night I'd had in ages!!

Yeh, I do celebrate every year during my anniversary month - July.  And have done so since 1984!!!  Even if I don't pull out the party hats and whistles, I do spend a lot on groceries during that month.  ANYthing and EVERYthing I want.  That's just my little hoorah!!  I'm beyond missing the parts that aren't there anymore - all they did was cause me pain.  I'm pretty much pain-free, with a few episodes here and there, and can enjoy each day.
