Ventral Hernia

Hello all anybody out their have a ventral hernia? I have a 5.2cm ventral hernia that is abut to my transverse colon and I have a bulge that is bulging on my previous incision it hurts almost all the time, at times it feels as if my incision is going to burst open. Can a incision burst open please reply.

I've had three different types of hernias. I've had two inguinal, one femoral, and most recently a ventral that was repaired during my colectomy. If your incision is fresh and not completely healed; yes it could break open. If it's an old incision that has healed, then I'd have to say no.

I had a ventral hernia repaired in Feb 2007, a colostomy and ovarian cyst and my incision is blood red very tender to the touch and their is a bulge that is to the right/left and over my stoma, I have an appointment next week to see a surgeon
