I have had an ileoscopy and am now ready for the operation to remove part of my colon.Prior to my colonscopy I had to drink Nulyte solution to cleanse my system, spending much time in the bath. Now I am to drink 1/2 gal of this solution and am curious just how this is handled with an ostomy bag. I suppose I just keep emptying it. Any comments would be appreciated.

Please don't drink any of it. Ileostomates should not take preps of any sort - it can severely dehydrate us. Instead 24 - 38 hours of clear fluids is all we need to clean ourselves out. The people handing out the instructions, just hand out the instructions not realising our plumbing is different.
Good luck.

Some surgeons will insist on a prep, and I've done it many times. Just drink the prep slowly, and when the stool starts coming out clear, stop it. You don't have to drink the entire thing. Good luck.

Thank you Judy. That is the same advise the nurse suggested during my preop session.
