Mornings are definitely the BEST time for me as well. Sometimes I can get by changing before I eat supper, esp. if I have had an early lunch and NOT "grazed" a bunch thru the afternoon as I am known to do. I love to "graze", but I am in the gaining weight mode and grazing seems to work for me!
If for any reason I have to change at any other time, it is a real challenge for me. My stoma is sooo active. And, yes, sometimes it takes a while to accomplish. A 10 minute session could take up to 30. Standing up during the changing process also minimizes the mess on your abd if your stoma spouts off! Less re-cleaning the area = quicker change time. Ya just have to be fast and catch it in between spouts! Yeh, I'll agree that sometimes it's just a waiting game.
As you become a more seasoned ostomate and learn the tricks that work best for you, your changing time will lessen. And even during the times that your stoma is spouting back at you, you will figure out a way to manage that as well.
Amey - you have such a great attitude..... girl, you just make me giggle. You know, by sharing your stories with us, we are laughing at your expense!!!
