Gas non-stop /Is colectomy reduce gas?

I would like to know if colectomy eliminate gas for those who had excessive amount before their surgery.

I have severe alternating IBS constipation and often semi-formed stools.

I have excessive gas which i cannot evacuate properly. confused

Trapped gas can be extemely painful, and I feel for you. sad There are a lot of people here who have had colectomies due to colonic inertia or chronic constipation and feel a lot better now. I had a proctocolectomy due to severe Crohn's and feel great now. I can tell you that if you have an ostomy, there is no "throttle" with a stoma, so if there is gas, it just comes out quietly into the bag. Have you discussed any of this with your doctor?

I wonder if my failed defecography could prevent me from getting resection.

At this point,i'm thinking of a colectomy if my gas are reduced.

well i had alot of gas with UC and it's not nearly as bad now! it depends on what i eat of course, but it's not that horrible painful gas anymore

I'm thinking of getting a virtual colonoscopy to put more pressure on surgeon.

In fact i seriously want to try a cecopexia before i shop for a resection.

Just curious, how do you know that you have a cecum motility problem?

I have never heard of this procedure before.

Because i can get huge gas distention that i can feel like a baseball in my cecum.

I also have motlity and hypersensitivity problems in other parts of my colon but my cecum is the WORST area.

Few years ago,the knee below my cecum has expend from an arthritc reaction immanating from the "infflammation" or cecum pain.

I had/have extreme colonic inertia for years. The running joke in my family was that Mommy never passes gas. I would get bloated and distended but no....relief. I had a TC which was not helpful for me, not to say it would not help someone else. Now I have a bag and although my stoma is very quiet, I do occationally have some gassy activity. This surgery has been a huge improvement. I hope you find success with your surgery as well.

I have normal Sitz marker BUT in my case the problem is motility of gas.

Sitz marker isn't accurate for that because gas get VERY painful in a matter of minutes.

summerstorm,where was located your UC and how the diagnosis has been made?
