I can't believe I missed the toilet!!

Please tell me I'm not the only on who's done this!! Here's what happened, I was watching a program on TV and went to use the bathroom. I can see the TV from the bathroom, so I kept watching the program while emptying the bag. I thought that I had the tail of it inside the toilet, but when I looked down, it was laying on top of the toilet seat and emptying onto the floor!!! ARRGGHH!! I felt so stupid!

Now, I will have to say, you had better have been watching something REALLY good on tv. LOL!!! I can't say that I have ever done that, but I can see the tv from my bathroom.

Along the same lines... we are building a new house, and I am putting in the elongated comfort rise (higher than normal) toilets in the bathrooms. It's just easier for me to empty my bag in an elongated toilet. Any thoughts on this?

i haven't done that with my bag yet, i did get up from the toilet once and forget to close the bottom.  But, i have missed the toilet seat and fallen int he floor before!  i have to leave the door open, so i can tell what my baby is doing, and he was saying, mommy look at this, and i leaned around the corner at the same time i was trying to sit down (this was before my bag) and just totally missed the seat!

Peggy, i think that's a good idea, those are easier to use.  The toilet i use at home, is messed up a little and the bowl doesnt' fill as high as other toilets, but that is actually good, cause it keeps it from splashing.  When i go somewhere else it always splashes, you can make your toilet fill less by adjusting the chain on the ball though.

i haven't done that with the bag yet, but i HAVE tried to pee into a covered toilet before, hahaha! i think i was even sober at the time, yikes!

at home i just empty the bag into a yogurt container, then dump that into the toilet. muchh faster and no crouching required.

Thanks for the laughs!! tongue I guess I have to admit that I can't multi-task!!

Summer, you're not the only one who's missed the toilet! Before I had the bag, there were times that I would have to sprint to the bathroom to get there on time. Well, one night, I didn't have time to turn on the light, so I ran to the bathroom, missed the toilet, and ended up landing on the shower floor!!

EEWWWWWW! I have never done that one...but I really enjoyed the funny image. I have tilted my bag into the toliet to empty it and had some of the contents spill over onto the floor a little. What were you watching that was so interesting?

You'll appreciate this, since you're a Realtor. I was watching "Flip This House" on the Do It Yourself (DIY) channel. It was right at the end of the show when they go from room to room showing the before and after shots of all of the home improvements that were made. It's the best part of the show, and I didn't want to miss it! Needless to say, my eyes were glued to the TV, and I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing. nono I won't make THAT mistake again!! tongue

That's what TIVO is for. I just hit pause and go to the bathroom whenever I want.

Unlike my husband I don't think of the bathroom as a recreational place. I get in and get out.

LOL!!! I can't say I've done that buy I've had the bag slip out of my hands and everything went on the floor! It is my great fear every time I empty in a public bathroom!

Do you actually remove the bag from the wafer to empty it? confused The bags I use have a velcro opening at the bottom, so you can empty it into the toilet (at least that's how it's supposed to work when you're not distracted and accidentally empty it onto the floor!!) tongue

I have a clip at the bottom of mine. I don't do a 2-piece. I know I tried years ago but I can't remember now why they did not work for me. I seem to be in the minority of having a one piece (based on what I've read others use anyway).

i CAN'T FEEL THE LEAST BIT OF SYMPATHY FOR ALL OF YOU GUYS AND GALS.  I have told you recently about all the trouble I have had with the bag falling off.  OK so I put on a new barrier and bag last night.  Today I was trying to hang a picture in my den and I smelled something.  My new bag had last the lock closure on the tail and there on my carpet was a brown pile.  You see it seems that most of the problems you have mentioned were of your own making.  Bad things happen to me without help.  Remember that litttle guy on Lil Abner who always walked around under a black raining cloud?  ME!!!!! confused confused confused

Arundinaria...You might want to add a carpet cleaning system to your Christmas list...LOL just kidding. Seriously, that has to be something strange going on. I am so sorry you are having so much trouble. I hope you find a solution soon.

Cecilia...so was the home transfermation worth the mess you made in the bathroom? I think you might have needed a bathroom make-over after your little incident. I really enjoy watching those types of shows. I can see myself doing the exact same thing. Of course, after reading your post...I think I will be careful to change my bag during the commercials. :o)

I must say, the home transformation was amazing! It was remodeled by a gay couple, and they did a fabulous job! It was funny, because one guy would do all the work, while the other one didn't want to get his hands dirty. They were going into debt to remodel this place, because they couldn't resist buying the most expensive granite counter tops, slate flooring, wood cabinets, fixtures, etc. They ended up making $41,000 in 8 weeks... not bad.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's one month before my hubby and I bought our house. It had wall-to-wall shag, green carpet... even in the bathrooms! It's in a great neighborhood and we got an amazing price on it, but it needed to be updated. So, the first thing to go was the carpet, and we tiled the entire house, because Crohn's and carpet do not get along!! It was a wise decision, because it makes clean-up very easy. :-)

I am using the Holister 2 piece New Image and have never had any trouble keeping it on, or the clip coming loose at the bottom. I havent missed the toilet, but one time I took both pieces off standing over the toilet, thinking I was through right before getting into the shower..and oops..it started again on its own. But luckily I was standing over the toilet at the time.

I think the biggest mistake I've made yet is wearing white jeans and not paying attention properly (small children were trying to come in the bathroom which doesn't lock properly, and I was trying to keep the door closed with my foot). Yeuch. Luckily I had spare jeans.

Well, i can't say that i've done that but i have only had mine for about two weeks now. The only thing i hate is some times i don't get it fixed just right and i develop a leak about 15 minutes later, which sucks. I have a one piece bag and I think it would be easier than a two piece.
Fortunately the toilets in our house have an oblong seat so missing isn't a problem. I take and sit the wrong way on the seat to empty my bag and it works alot better and there is no chance of missing it.

No, all I got was the ileostomy. I had a near complete blockage of the large intestine with no bm for two weeks straight. I had an colonoscopy to see what the problem was and they discovered the blockage. I had surgery the next day to clear the blockage and they gave the ostomy to give my colon time to heal itself.

I will be getting reversed next year in order to get back to work. I drive a truck and miss the road already.
