not going enough after reversal surgery, constipation?

I had my ileostomy reversal surgery about 6 weeks ago. The first few weeks were great. My tummy nice and flat and I was going about 4 or 5 times a day. I felt like I was emptying out prety good but also my appetite wasn't all that great. So there wasn't much to empty out anyway. My appetite was ok but it was nothing like it was BEFORE the surgery.

Fast forward a few weeks and I'm still going 4 or 5 times a day. My appetite is also alot better. However when I go to the bathroom I really don't feel like everything is coming out. My stomach isn't even as flat as it was earlier. The other night it looked bloated to me. I don't know. With me eating as much as I am I feel like ALOT more should be coming out then what I see.

I go see my surgeon in about a week. I am going to ask for an X Ray so we can see if there's stool getting backed up in there. I am hoping that everything is fine because I have read that some people with sub total colectomies sometimes end up having to get Total colectomies. I really do not want more surgery.

I have a condition called Hirschsprungs Disease. Basically that means I was born without enough ganglion cells. So I rarely ever got the urge to go and my colon couldn't push the stool out. So I was ALWAYS constipated even with laxatives.

I was diagnosed with HD when I was 4 and have had 21 operations for it. When my colon was finally removed it was streched out and weighed about 12 pounds. That's because of all the stool that was in there. I had the emergency ileostomy because there were complications with my colectomy.

The ostomy was temporary and I was only supposed to have it for about 6 weeks. But I was not ready for more surgery so I decided to keep it longer. My doctor told me to take my time getting it reversed. I can honestly say the 4 months I had my ostomy was physically the BEST I ever felt. There were minor annoyances like the itching and having more output at night. But it was still heaven.

When I got it reversed I still had alot of doubts as to whether I ws making the right decision. But I was also looking forward to not wearing a bag and seeing if my 21st operation would be the one that would work. Time will tell.
