My surgery is now November 19th. Spending Thanksgiving in the hospital.

Is the turkey good?  Trading my ass for turkey.  tongue

Ugh, don't remind me about hospital turkey. My first meal after my surgery was turkey and gravy. Since I had an epidural I didn't realize that my stomach hurt until it was so big I couldn't breath. Unfortunatley before they could put an NG tube in, I had turkey and gravy everywhere. Don't know if I can ever think of it the same again, lol.

Sorry about your Thanksgiving dinner. Maybe someone could sneak you in some "real food." How long are you expected to stay in the hospital? Holidays in the hospital are no fun. I have had 4 intestinal surgeries and 3 of them were around my birthday. I am starting to wonder if this is becoming a trend. I had my TC on June 21, my revised colectomy on June 20, and this year I was in the hosital from June 19-28....My birthday is June 23. My birthday cake has come in the form of an IV followed by a jello with a candle in the middle.

Yeah, i have to say the last surgery i had i remember the food wasn't all that bad really. That is, once they let me eat again.

  Not sure how it works this time around.

Hospital foods always tastes pretty darn good when you haven't eaten in a week! When they brought me my first meal in 10 days my hubby looked at the plate like he was going to puke. Not me, I yummied the beef tips and green beans like it was the best meal ever! After going so long without food, anything looked good to me. It could have been crackers with peanut butter, and I would have thought it was FANSTASTIC!

So what you're saying is that i shouldn't eat anything for a week and the hospital food will look that much

UHhhh, well, sure Slice - whatever it takes! Besides, after the prep for surgery, it may be a few days before you have an appetite!

well here is my only tip, do not ever ever eat pureed hospital chicken and dumplings.
As for the turkey i can't tell you, i dont' like turkey anyway and i pretty much ate pudding and mashed potatos from KFC

Yeah, you watch. The hospital won't have the channels the football is on.
So that would then be no food, no football and no ass.

You Got It!  While your at it..deprive yourself of other worldly pleasures....bathing, eating, sleeping, and watching TV.  Remember, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

At $2,000 per day, they'd better offer cable TV with ESPN and something better than turkey loaf for dinner on Thanksgiving! tongue
