Hi, I am 52 and was dx last august and started 1 med right away and it worked the 1st time taken and dr added a 2nd one 3 months later and I am starting to feel really good, though I still have many days I would choose to just stay in bed but overall compared to how I felt 6 months ago it is like night and day and my husband and kids have noticed the improvement. The dr believes I have had PD for a long time, maybe as much as up to 10 yrs and I was misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia for all that time and I didn't especially like the PD dx I got but the truth is the truth and sooner or later had I ignored the many symptoms I was having, I would have had to eventually see a doc for something related, like falling which can become a problem after awhile with those with PD. I know your husband may not want to say that anything is wrong, maybe cause no one wants to feel less of who they are, and men especially, they face obstacles differently I think than women so just encourage him to go see a dr and take a look and see what is wrong just like he would do for a car that was acting up and how much more important he is than a car and it is because you love him so much that you want to see him feel better and trust me he will. If it is indeed PD, the meds will make a huge difference and some of the things he's feeling now will not bother him so much, trust me I know he feels awful as I was feeling the things he is for years and I was miserable inside. It has been 6 months since I started 2 meds and though you have to accept the dx and take meds for the rest of your life, to me it was well worth it and I wouldn't go back and decide not to take them. Like I said, if it is PD and he doesn't do all that is recommeded for it, things that will aid in slowing the disease down, he will be seeing a doc and you don't want it to be after a fall. I hope for the best for you and will keep you guys in prayer.
