Hello everyone. Just happy to have found a forum for my Parkinson's.

I think the hardest part so far has been, not having anyone to talk to

about it. Looking forward to getting some answers and advice, and

maybe being of help to others.

Welcome. The forum is good for talking with others. I have also been lucky enough to find a support group for young onset people like me, that meets not too far away. It has been invaluable. While everyone has very different experiences with PD, you can still learn a lot of great stuff from others. This forum is great for that too.

And you're right, it's nice to be able to talk with others. Especially if, like me, you have not told many people about your PD.

I'm a new member & looking forward to ask questions & help with answers about PD. I was diagnosed 5 yrs. ago. Luckily, I am only affected on the left side (arm & leg). So far it has not progressed. I am currently taking requip, amantadine & sinemet. I am finally over the compulsive shopping, which I am sure was caused by the requip. My biggest problem now is gout. Seems my uric acid level has gone extremely high. This result came with my last blood work. On Monday I am going back to the doctor & I'm sure some type of treatment will begin. My question - Does anyone else have this problem? I believe it is from the sinemet. My ankles are extremely swollen & the joints in my big toe & ankle are swollen, red & sore. I have arthritis & the pain in my knee (also left side) has intensified. My fear now is that my kidneys will react to the uric acid problem. Sorry this is so long but if anybody can relate to my problems I would appreciate the response. I really have nobody to talk to about my PD but my neurologist & my internist. I will appreciate any help on this subject.

Welcome to HealingWell.I also have swollen ankles which I blame on the mirapex I'm taking (.75 3x).I've been on mirapex,and stalevo since both became available many years ago.So far my kidneys seem to be faring allright.Wish you the best,and stay in touch.Ed
