Hi everyone... Just a note to say hello, and to introduce myself. My name is Brian, but I go by bigBonehead (should be obvious at some point)

I just found this site, after finding out the YOPD site is no longer available... I hope to contribute to the forum, and of course find info to help
me cope with PD. I was Dx 4 yrs ago, and am in Stage 1 currently. I tried taking Mirapex as prescribed, but it felt like someone was sticking a Hot Ice Pic into my gut... Recently, I've developed cramping in some major joints, and calves, and I seem to have developed a serious frown :(

Welcome to HealingWell.Are you currently on sinemet?If you are does it help with the symptoms?A combo of stalevo,and mirapex seems to work for me,and allows me to do some daily activites.With cramping you need to get blood levels fo calcium ,and potassium;or go ahead,and add calcium to your diet,and bananas,and oranges for potassium.If you have not done so already talk to your neuro about this.Wish you the best.Ed

I use Requip xl and sinemet and stalevo
I used mirapex but never tolerated it well basically felt terrible and couldn't stay awake - I have used stalevo for 2 yrs but really like generic sinemet as it responds quicker and is much cheaper - i am late stage III and coach 3 sports am a scoutmaster (yes I backpack) The key for me is 1. strong faith 2. one hour workout everyday 3. a positive attitude and 4 reaching out to others (assist youth with drug alcohol issues - caregiving for others is critical to mental health

I found that if i took a dose just prior to bed i would toss and turn = I now go to bed "off" - struggle w/rolling over but sleep very well

Hello my name is Glen, I have been diagnosed with PD about2 months ago. We are still trying to get the meds figured out. I am now taking requip and it doesn't seem to help much at all. Aches and stiffness all over. I have tried Azelect which killed my stomach and had continual head ache. Any of you that can give me a idea of how long it takes to get the right meds. I guess maybe I am getting impatient. Just tired of hurting. Thanks for any info.

Diagnosed with PD last September. Changed from Sinemet to Azilect in December (my choice). Helped with most symptoms but still had some tremors. I take one 2 mg tab of trihexyphen (artane) and for most part stops tremors. I never hear of anyone taking Artane. Why is that? It's not expensive (generic) and for me really helps with a very small dose. Thhe only side effect is dry mouth. Good trade off.
