Hi guys, I am new to this forum this is my first post, but I have been on the depression forum before. I want to share what happened with my father, and maybe get to know some of you and learn more about this desease.
well my father was always a very active, and funny person. but when he reached the age of 58 we Noticed him starting to get a lot of anger issues, raising his voice when he feels we are not doing something right, he did have blood presure at the time but it was under control with medication. for instance I used to come help him at work with PCs and network issues when I am done with my work and if something doesn't work very well he would get really angry, and I am just volenterring for help, so I got fed up and asked him to hire a professional and I want nothing to do with it. after a while he was not able to continue working, and he left the country ( we were expats ), he didn't want to tell his employer but he didn't plan to get back. after a few months he told his employer he no longer wants to work. instead of retiring he decided to manage a family realstate, for a few years he seemed better but the anger issues did not go away. when he was around 65-66 he started having problems driving making a lot of acidents, we didn't know why, by this time he was also diagnosed with diabetes but it was under control with medication. we felt he was really depressed as well, so we took him to a psyciatrist and he started him on zoloft. later that year he started having problems walking, and problems with sleep. he would not be able to sleep at night and keeps on falling every where, injurring himself badly, we took him 3 times to the hospital to treat his wounds after he fall down. and his car accidents continued until we finally forbid him from driving at all for his own saftey. wel also don't let him walk alone now even in the house because he could fall at any moment. this year he became 68, and after seeing many doctors, all of them agreed something is wrong with his nervous system but nobody understands why, some of them indicated he might have had some light brain strokes. finally a week ago a doctor diagnosed him with parkinson desease, because he noticed his left hand shakes sometimes. it seems he is weaker on his left side, like his left feet and left arm. he seems to have better control of his right arm and right leg. so now we started him on medication for parkinson desease, I presume it will just reduce some of the symptoms but it not really a cure, as from what I read it not treatable yet.
my father keeps reading about stems cells, but since it's expensive we are not sure it's something worth doing, offcourse the doctor who is offering the service promises it will help, but because the doctor is not authorised to do this kind of operation in our country it makes us suspicius of his intergrity, after counslunting some of the elders in the family we concluded it's not a good idea right now, but I welcome any suggestions from you guys from your experiences, any of you tried it?
after reading the symptomps for my father's condition, any of you feel you have the same symptums? please any feed back is appretiated, I don't know much about this desease yet, so any feed bank is welcome :)
EDIT: I want to add that, also along with my father's issues falling down and ballance and not able to drive a car safely, now he started to sutter a lot and seems to think very slowly. he has problems making full sentanses, we have to put a lot of effort to understand what he wants to say. he was in the past a very talkative and social person and always telling jokes but now he prefers to sit alone on the TV or computer not socializing much, and as I said he has problems making full sentanses now, but his memory is OK I think, he does remember new or old things very well , but has problems expressing himself now and slow thinking... he is also very stubborn nowdays lol. but he does smile a lot and seems happy...
