Petite Mom - needs good pillow

My dad asked me to order several pillows from MyPillows.com (heard on Imus show), but when I saw the website I decided against it. They are lumpy, bad reviews, etc.

My mom was diagnosed with PD about 2 years ago, she will be 80yo this year. She is very petite. Under 5ft tall, weighs about 85-90lbs. Dad said she is having trouble getting comfortable and staying asleep. He said she needs new pillows.

Does anyone have a suggestion? He was whispering about it, didn't want her to hear him asking me - but I think I should just ask her what kind of pillows she wants. I can buy several locally and return.

I found Sobel Westex pillows online that get grand reviews, but there are several kinds and I'm not sure what to get. I know she wouldn't want a hard pillow (memory foam) or soft (down).

My mom likes to sleep higher up so I got her the memory foam pillow with the gel inside. The only thing I don't like about it is that it only comes in standard size and I think even that is too small compared to regular standard size pillow. I got it on sale at Kohls and with a discount which was about $25 in the end. I wouldn't pay for anything more expensive than that.

Found out the hard way.....If a memory foam pillow gets cold it will freeze solid. It takes some time to thaw out.

If your pillow freezes up like that then your house may be too cold for you to be in at a healthy level. That's something.

My Mum was petite too. for her, i would place her on aslight sloe using two pillow, tthe bottomone was an extra firm, and the top on was medium which igot at costco. Having her an a slight slope allowed her to breathe better also.

I did that before too but my mom moves her head all over the place and she always ends up tipping over so I gave up and just bought 1 pillow high enough to raise her head. She snores really bad so that helps some.

My mum also had a lot of dyskinesia of the head, so I would placea small folded handtowel under each side of the pillow to stop her from rolling over. It helped.

Nah, my mom just rolls over that too. haha
