My mother was diagnosed with Parkinson's last May 2012. However, she in the two weeks went from walking with some balance issues to now she cannot walk or stand without falling, she is confussed, she cannot remember anything for longer than 35 seconds. Three weeks ago she was tutoring and able to function. Now, it has been drastic in just 1 week. She is only in her late 50's and she has gone to the Neurologist twice in 5 days. I attended both appoitments with my mother & stepfather. Let's just say last week she could walk somewhat. But, she is now in a wheel chair. Yes, drastic and the doctor's are stumped.
After my parents left the hospital parking lot; I went to my car and just wanted to have a fit. I have always been very close to my mother. She is my best friend, my security, mother, and wonderful in everyway. Now I must say that I feel helpless and scared. My grandfather had Parkinson's also for 13 years. However, he was never this severe and his was very gradual.
What does a patient do when they are not responding to Parkinson's medicine, but they are showing & diagnosed with Parkinson's? Why is she so progressive in just a few weeks and/or days?
Thanks!
