Well folks,

I'm taking my mom to see her neuro tomorrow for her 2 months checkup. I;m going to request that my mom be placed on Sinemet in place of parcopa which she has been taking for the past 3 months. Since it's an orally disintergrating pill it stays in her mouth which coats her tongue and she ends up with a very metallic smell and yellow coating on her tongue and then bad breath that I can smell from yards away. My mom has dementia in addition so she won't follow instructions such has sticking her tongue out for me to brush out when I brush her teeth.

I also think the Parcopa is making her hair fall out. Finally every day around 6 pm the tremors on her left leg starts and doesn't stop until at least an hour or more later. she takes Mirapex wiith parocpa but not in the afternoon dose so she may need the combo to rest the tremors. She used to be on 50/200 Stalevo but I got her switched to Parcopa in the equal dosage which became 25/50 6 times a day and 1mg Mirapex. Sinemet is the same as Parcopa so I rather she take time and swallow it whole and be done with. The reason she stopped Stalevo was because the pill was too big to swallow and she would chew on it which makes it not so effective.

i hope switching from parcopa to sinemet will not make a big deal in how she feels. He balance is not so hot either.

Does anyone read or participate in this forum? I keep talking to myself over and over. It's not the best feeling in the world.

Hope things are going well for you and mom. I do read all your posts. But, I don't have anything to add. Was recently diagnosed with PD and thanks God I do not have any symptoms and only know about one medicine. You asked if anyone reads them? I believe this one in particular has been seen 3,231.

Amen, Bella. I'm with ya! I don't understand why more folks don't post. I think that 3,5,10 ... whatever ... posts with 3,200 ... yes that's 3 THOUSAND reads is absurd. There is no right or wrong answer. It's about sharing your experiences and asking questions. It's about knowing you are not alone ... just a 'Hey! I feel the same way', or 'Hey! That happened to me, too'.

I challenge each of those 3,200 readers to post ONCE in the next month. To quote a fine young man, I double-dog dare ya!

Bella - It's difficult to post when you don't have much to add to a conversation, for example no experience the the drugs being mentioned.

That said, having lived with my wife's PD for the last sixteen years, I commend you on being your mothers caregiver. It's a difficult, sometimes emotionally draining task with little reward. Kudos to you and your inner strength.

Sorry I didn't know I had this response. So....Parcopa and Sinemet worked the same way for my mom meaning.... zzzzzzz She slept and slept and acted drugged out when I gave her even half a pill at 5:30. I waited until 7 to feed her dinner and she was in no condition to eat. I did this for 2 weeks and gave up. She is better off taking Stalevo.

If this is confusing to you then I must have skipped a year or two of experimenting info for you. Long story short even a little Sinemet makes her grind her teeth and woosy and drugged out. Stalevo works much better.

Colitis huh? Sounds like a ton of laughs. Your group and not the disease of course.
