My father was diagnosed with Parkinson's late last year.  He was exposed to AO for a number of years during Vietnam.  I was born in Bangkok, Thailand in 07/1973 on the US Army Base.  My dad filed a claim with the VA and they have finally rated him at 100% disability since the Parkinsons was diagnosed.  He has other issues that have developed over the years that have been attributed to AO such as diabetes II, high blood pressure, severe depression and now this.  He takes at least 14 different medications a day to try and control everything and basically maintain.  It hurts my heart everytime I see him try to hold a spoon or even walk.  I feel for everyone who has had a loved one exposed to Agent Orange and are still developing symptoms from this horrible experience.

I am 63 year old veteran. I was recently diagnosed with PD after almost 4 years of chasing another disorder called tardive dyskensia. I was in the USAF stationed at Takhli RTAFB in 1968-69. Our perimeter was sprayed with AO as well as other areas on the base. It is well documented that our CE squadron stored AO and used it to keep the vegetation down. We were also "fogged" nightly to keep the bugs down. I worked in the AGE shop and we provided portable lights over some of the base at night. We were all over the flight line and maint areas 24/7. We washed parts in carbon tetracloride and literally washed ourselves with it as it cleaned you up quickly. We sprayed ourselves with insecticide in the green cans to kill the crabs. I do much of my "medical stuff" at the VA. Anyone have any experience with theAO/VA being a Thailand vet? I know that PD is now on the list and so are many of the Thai bases. I am a Nam vet diagnosed with PD.  Was in 4th ID Pleiku and An Khe 69-70.  Just wondering if anyone knows if there are any stats that indicate how many Nam Vets now have PD??

Hello. I was diagnosed with PD a couple of years ago and was recently evaluated by the VA for Agent Orange exposure in 'Nam (Bluewater navy veteran, 1971-72). I received a 40% disability rating, despite the fact that my ship has not made the list of vessels known to have had contact with AO.

If you have any symptoms of the know conditions that the VA has associated with AO exposure, contact the nearest VA service officer to get an appointment for an examination/evaluation!

I was also exposed to trichloroethylene on board ship on a daily basis, (I was an Electronics Technician; TCE was Used for cleaning electronic equipment). as well as a field service engineer for IBM from 1973-1985. We used what was called "Gold Can" cleaner to clean electromechanical data processing equipment like keypunches, Selectric typewriters, card punches, etc.

My husband was on active duty in the Air Force for 21 years. Also was stationed at Clark Air Force Base from 1968 to 1971.
10 years ago he started to have the first signs of Parkinson,now stage 3 PD.I also believe that his illness might be related to the solvent TCE , he used for many years , cleaning aircraft parts. As of now he is not using the VA or getting any benefits from the VA,when he retired he was healthy and had other health insurance. what would I have to do to get benefits through the VA, to help pay for some of the care he needs?? I would be thankful for any info.

Look in the phone book for the number and address of your county Veterans Service Officer. They can help you start the necessary paperwork to request evaluation at the nearest VA facility.

If he was on or near Clark AFB from '68 to '71 he was most likely exposed to Agent Orange, as it was used extensively as a defoliant to keep runways clear of weeds.

Old Clarence - I am now a 66 year old Medic stationed at Takhli August 1968 to August 1969 and have Multiple Sclerosis, Diabetes Mellitus and Neuropathy in all four (4) limbs.

A friend of mine was stationed at Clark AFB about 1966 to 1968, Unit 604 MATS. He remembers being exposed to Agent Orange that was on the planes he repaired and others encounters on base. He now has Parkinson's. The Air Force has denied that there was Agent Orange used at Clark at that time. The Air Force denies that the planes carrying and spraying Agent Orange in Vietnam were being serviced at Clark when he was there. If there is anyone who was there and remembers or has any other evidence, please contact me. Thank you.

My husband is a Vietnam Vet, 68'- 69', Camron Bay, Ahn Khy, and other places. He was 173rd Airborne, he was diagnosed 2 yrs ago with Parkinson's. He was exposed to Agent Orange as a Paratrooper. He received 100% VA Disability from the diagnosis.

Looking for info how to contact Dawgdog. My husband was stationed at Clark Air Force Base in 70's. He has 28 diseases and both hips replaced. He is 62 years old. He to knows they sprayed Agent Orange around perimeter and buildings and gates. He is so sick. His t cells are effected which means he gets sick all the time,he is like a 90 year old man. Really has no life, sleeps a lot. Always in pain. No one in his family has any of the diseases he has. He has 6 that are listed on the Agent Orange registry. Some one else must know of the spraying of Orange at Clark. 2 veterans won there case for Subic Bay for Diabetes 11 because the drums left on the docs where leaking after being transported from ship. Where did these drums go, to Clark.
