i had posted on the depressin web site , butit was suggested that i try here, my hubby is 47 and

has been diagnosed with pd for abt a year and half now- took psych testing and they seem to think that he has very severe depression, we took the sych test cause he has very severe confusion and concentration, he had a very bad weekend, was hallucinating from friday to sunday, seeing people that are not really there, not talking to them just seeing them, sometimes

only parts of them, like seeing a lady on our porch , just her head with a scarf on , the rest of her was on the other side of the porch, he called my father as i was out of town and sd congratulations, my father asked what he was talking abt and he sd you know what i mean, my father asked if there was anyone there with him and he sd no just 3 empty chairs and they would not give back his glasses! HE HAS NOT HAD A CHANGE IN HIS MEDS. he takes cymbalta, mirapex,

buspar, nexium, and a sleeping pill that i can not recall name of. these hallucinations are very scary for me, i am afraid of what he might do . he is so confused all of time and does not comprehend at all. the doc's do not seem to think this a med reaction but possibly a sudo dementia due to the depression, i have tried to look up the dementia but can not find anything concrete on it, i just feel that this is progressing so rapidly and dont know where to turn. can a person be so severely depressed with the parkinsond and depression that they have dementia

and hallucinations? any input would be greatly appreciated...........

My husb. has PD, depression (he won't admit to it), confusion and now hallucinations. He was hosp. in May and meds changed, but there has been no change in his condition. I am trying to find out everything I can about PD and Dementia (different types). Tomorrow we are having an EEG to test for seizures. I wish success to you in your search.

please keep me informed of any results you get from tests or docs, this is all so confusing and frustrating. is your hubby still working? mine has not been able to work for over a year now due to the severe confusion and comprehension that he is having, fighting for disability, and i mean what a fight! sad

My dad has hallucinations all the time. The doctors attribute it to the Sinemet he takes for Parkinsons. I'm guessing whatever drugs your husband takes to restore Dopmine is causing this.

so are the hallucinations just a side effect to the parkinsons that we just have to learn to deal with, or are there any meds out there that will help with them? what about the confusion and comprehension issues? is there anyone out there that is having problems with this? my hubby just gets everything backwards and can no longer even figure out his meds. i guess i thought that the hallucinations did not start until the pd was well advanced, he has only been diagnosed with pd for about a year and half but things seem to be progressing so rapidly for us, is this normal? sorry about all the questions but this all so confusing and frustrating eyes so far hallucinations are just visual, do they ever get vocal? also is there anyone out there that is on ssdi for pd and depression? how did you ever get approved, we are waiting now to go before a judge and have an attorney, we have 3 doctors that say he can no longer work and there is a wait to see a judge of abt 12 to 16 months!!!!! is there anything we can do to speed this up? i am working 2 jobs a full time and a part time abt 70 hrs a week, but on the verge of losing our home , i dont know how much longer we can hold on ................anyone with any info please respond

I can attest to the confusion and comprehension problems. I was doing very well on meds, however I have been taken off of everything to see a specialist. They did not want me going in symptom free! So I am trying to keep working but my mind is foggy. I know what to do and I understand well, but at times I have great difficulty expressing myself. It is like I have memory fog. The comprehension tends to go when many things are thrown at me at once. Also, my typing speed has dropped from 65wpm, to 30 wpm. As to the hallucinations I have not experienced anything like that. I will be interested to see if anyone responds about your questions for disability as I feel that application is in my future. It seems totally crazy to me that with a diagnosis of PD and a doctor's statement that your husband is unable to work he could be having any problems obtaining disability. I hope that someone can help with your questions.

Thanks for the response jb, this whole pd and dpression issue is a nightmare, i hope you never have to deal with hte hallucinations, they are scary! yes, i really hope that someone responds to disability questions and answers for me. i need all the info and help i can get at this point,

My father-in-law is on Sinemet and Mirapex and suffers greatly with severe depression and halluciations.  His doctor attributes the hallucinations to the meds he is on.  The hallucinations come and go and he does talk to them and thinks that they are real.  He does not want to get help for his depression and we feel this would benefit him greatly.
