Hi Ed or anyone else who can offer there opinion!

I have a question, does PD, always get worse? I am completely confused here:  I don't know if you read my other email regarding my MRI and what it said?  My Nuro called yesterday and said it was normal?  I don't understand that's not what it said!  He also, said my PD oneday will get worse!! 

When I first saw him he said he didn't have a crystal ball and it may just stay where it's at or it could get worse, he also said there will be a cure!!!!  Why would he say that?

I have another appointment for a second opinion, but can't get in  until June!!!  I'm taking care of myself, taking my vitamins along with CQ10 and exercising as well.  Any input on my question would be welcome....Thanks in advance

PD is a progressive disease,but everyone progresses at a different rate.As you said you are taking care of yourself,and this should slow progression.You might very well go into your 80's,and still get around fine.Stress has the greatest affect on PD symptoms,as any one with PD will tell you.Worry is a great source of stress.As you know life comes with no guarantees for any of us.We all hope for a cure,and I believe it isn't far away.For now we have some pretty effective meds.Wish you the best,and I hope you hear from others.Ed

Thanks, for your reply and kindness. Yes, you are right stress does effect me...when I'm not stressing I hardly have any symptoms....I'm a little shocked I wasn't put on any meds, I understand they like to wait is that correct??? I guess I'll just wait and see what the second Nuro says and does... Again, thanks for your kindness, I hope this finds you well Ed!!!

Medication works well. I try not to think about about the future. I eat right, exercise, if able, go to physical therapy and doctors, couselling. I'm beginning a new approach. I was severely depressed, but I am on medication for that now, so I feel like I am a little more in control.  Look for a support group and this sight is great! Calming is right. Medication works well but it is always worth remembering that they have their own consequences and the long term use of certain meds can lead to distressing side effects. When I was first diagnosed I was not given meds until it was clear I was at the stage when I would really benefit and they would increase the quality of my life.

Learn all you can about PD and the drugs used to control it. Do not take meds just for a quick fix because you feel unwell. Give yourself time to adapt to the meds prescribed. TRy find a support group as Calming suggested. Its worth it and you can learn a great deal from others who have lived with PD for years.
