Anyone using the Azilect 0,5mg or 1,0mg

My name is Rafael, Im from Brazil.

 

My dad have PD for the last 8 years, he is been taking amantidina in this period, and now he will start taking Azilect 0,5mg next week.

 

He is to exciting about the peformance of the medication(azilect),

I really would like to have some feedback about people that have take this medication, if stop the tremors, if did any mental benefits, any thing... all the information is well welcome.

Hello Rafael,

Just started taking Azilect 3 days ago, after coming off of Permax (which worked great and kept me moving and feeling normal most of the time).  My doctor tells me that it could take 4 weeks to notice a difference (what difference I wonder?).  However, I am having a really bad time with "off" periods since coming off of Permax.  I'm on Sinmet/Comtan 3Xday, with 1 day Azilect.  I would love to hear from others who are on Azilect and what to expect if anything.  Thankyou.

I tried to use Azilect for 2 weeks but it didn't work to me. I'm back to Sinemet My dyskenesia was even  worst.Well everybody has their own differences. It might work  good to your father and if not you can always withdraw.

Azilect is wonderful   I have no dysknesia or how ever you spell it. In the words my husband I am better now than I was a year ago.   Only thing is the doctors seem to be afraid of it ? Never the less life is better

I was diagnosed with Parkinsons in 2003. Since then, I have been on Requip at first, Amantadine next and then Carbo-levadopa. I have been on sinemet now since 2005 and
was taking it 3x/daily. I have the rigid type of Parkinsons in my left side. Anyway I was doing
alright for the most part but did have problems getting around some and last fall my Dr. increased my sinemet dosage to 4X per day 50-200MG of sinemet, Comtan 2x per day and then Mirapex .0125 once daily. The thing, that I noticed is that I seemed to develop a dystonia problem in my left foot which, I still have. They wanted to increase the Mirapex, but
I didn't want to go along with it until I had recd another eval. So this is what I did and did get
another eval from a Dr. who's a Parkinsons specialist in this area. Anyway, he started me on
Azilect .05mg 1X daily with no changes in the other meds, except he told me that I could reduce my Comtan and see what happens. So, I have done this and been on the Azilect for
almost 1 month. I have not seen a lot of change, except for maybe less tenseness in my
left leg (Parkinsons side). I still have a problem with the dystonia which turns my left foot
inwards in the morning hours. I don't know what to do about it. Maybe its the wearing off of
the sinemet, as I take my last one at 8:00PM. I am breaking up the 8:00PM pill and taking the
half at midnight or 1:00AM and then taking half of the 8:00AM pill at or around 4:00 AM. I am
trying this to see if it helps, among other things, such as added calcium and Quinine water.

Anyway, sorry this got so long, but I do think the Azilect is working and probably will do good for a lot of people, but everyone's situation different. I may have to increase to 1MG after while, don't know.
