Has anyone taken Amantadine???  My nuro gave that to me for my slight tremor, 100 mg 2x day.... nothing else.  Any side effects??? Thanks  tongue

Strengthenme,I'll stick my neck out,which I don't usually due,and ask why take this med if you only have a slight tremor?I have never taken amatadine,and I hope you hear from those that have.I will add that all meds have some side effects.Wish you the best.let's hear from those on amatadine.Ed

Amantadine is for dyskenesia, to control the jerky involuntary movement which is the side effect of Sinemet. Yes I'm taking  it 3x a day for a long time. It helps me and makes me stable. It has more benenfits than side effect, for me.

I have been recently diagnosed and Amantadine is the first medication my Neuro put me on. 100mg 3x per day and it worked very well for a time, took a couple of weeks to really notice a difference, but this was due to the gradual increase of dosage. I have noticed a drop off in effectiveness, took about 6 months, in fact tomorrow I begin with the starter kit of Requip in addition to the Amantadine. I was fortunate in the fact that I didn't have any side effects whatsoever. Good luck.

I go along with Ed. Why treat a slight tremor?

Overtime you will probably manage to control a slight tremor with a bit of mind over matter rather than relying on meds early on.  Don't want to try to diagnose you or go against your Neuro but if it were me then I would ask myself if the short term comfort is worth the risk of side effects later on.

Doesn't answer your question I know but there will always be side effects sometime or other.

What say you Minmark ?

I do practice mental imagery, especially in my bad days when I have freezing. I cncentrate and picture my self walking and running, then after that I will have breathing exercise. Then I'm back. That's how powerful the mind is. What I learn in life is to be grateful in every blessings that we have. Remove all the negative feelings in your heart and you'll find happiness in spite of the fact that we are sick of debilitating disease.

Positive attitude is the best medicine and it has no side effect.
