catarac surgery with PD

My mom who has PD has had many falls and broken bones and over the past few years during her healing and rehab I've heard over and over again that people with PD just do not rehab and make a "come back" like those who do not have PD.

She is now in need of catarac surgery and concerned about the "come back" or complications for someone with PD? It's easy to see the slow "come back" from physical rehab but the eyes ???

Any experience with catarac surgery and PD?

Yes I just had catarct surgery in both eyes.Sure is great to see again .I was close to blind in my left eye,and my right eye carried the load. i now have 20/20 vision and can drive without glasses.The recovery peiod was relatively short,and the surgery was over before I knew it.I had each eye done 6 weeks apart.I'd be glad to answer any questions you may have regarding cataract surgery.My feelings were that pd was bad enough without adding vision loss. Ed

Thank you for your reply regarding catarac surgery, were the cataracs removed and then a lens inserted OR were the cataracs just removed? Any thoughts / info on inserting lens' vesus just having them removed?

I had lens replacements.Astigmatism was not present in my case.If it is present you may not correct to 20/20.In any case I believe the natural lens is destroyed in the cataract removal,and is replaced.Don't quote me on this you need to check with the eye surgeon.Ed

ClarysageI had monofocal lenses implanted,and I do need reading glasses for up close work.I have no knowledge or opinion on multifocal lenses.I do know that multifocal lensese are relatively more expensive wish you the best.Ed
